Film Posters - Romantic Comedy - 'Knocked Up'
The third poster I will be looking at is for the film Knocked Up.
The rom-com/farce genre comes across in this poster through the:
- Tagline - "What if this guy got you pregnant?" implies a mistake by the characters, and that something happens that's not meant to happen (an unwanted pregnancy), but it also hints to the father not being very mature and possibly responsible enough to be a dad. The farcical elements will come from the clash of characters/personalities.
- Colour Scheme - The colours in this poster are bright and vibrant which, again, presents a comedic feel and lightheartedness, typical of the genre (even though the issues, on the face of it, are quite serious).
- Mise-en-scene - The main character looks fun and goofy (shown in close up), as well as him having an "oh no" facial expression, which reflects the mood of the film and that he's not ready to be a father. The red of the title and the release date connote love and the pastel green of the background emphasise the ultimately soft tone of the film.
- Star - Seth Rogan is a comedic actor who has appeared in a lot of romantic comedies (often those made by director Judd Apatow). He is also known for starring in farcical comedies, such as Superbad.
- Director - "The next comedy from the director of The 40-Year-Old Virgin" again, another farcical comedy from Judd Apatow.
