Film Posters - Romantic Comedy - 'Groundhog Day'
The fourth poster I will be looking at is for the film Groundhog Day.
The rom-com/farce genre comes across in this poster through the:
- Tagline - "He's having the day of his life...over and over again", refers to the idea that eventually, if the protagonist repeatedly experiences the same day, he may soften and find love.
- Colour Scheme - The title and name of the main star is red, which signifies love.
- Mise-en-scene - There are images of the two leading characters in the film poster, separated by the clock. It is common for both characters to be featured (the love interests) in rom-com posters, and for there to be a hint at the obstacle between them.
- Stars - Both Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell have appeared frequently in the rom-com genre.
- Font - Serif font (with many of the letters lowercase) which is common in romantic comedies.
