Potential Production Companies

When analysing trailers and posters I noticed that the production company logos always appear at the beginning of the trailers, as well as appearing in the billing block at the end (and in the billing block on the posters).

I am now going to do research on different production companies, to find the most appropriate company to produce my film. I will be looking at mainstream Hollywood companies alongside British film companies, that have a track record of producing films within the romantic comedy genre (to give my marketing materials an extra layer of authenticity).

Columbia Pictures is an American film studio and production company owned by multimedia conglomerate Sony. They make films from a wide range of genres, including romantic comedies (which is why this would be a suitable production company to use). Films belonging to my chosen genre that they have made include The Holiday, Grown Ups and Groundhog Day

Universal Pictures is an American film studio owned my multimedia conglomerate Comcast. Universal is one of the most well known Hollywood production companies, with thousands of movies on their slate. These include producing or co-producing lots of rom-coms, such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Bridesmaids, Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Apatow Productions is an American film and television production company founded by Judd Apatow. For most of the films produced by this company, Judd Apatow is often the director. The companies films (whether their own productions or co-productions) include Bridesmaids, Knocked up, The 40-Year-Old-Virgin and This is 40.

20th Century Studios aka Twentieth Century-Fox is an American film studio that is now a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios. They also work on a range of different genres, including many romantic comedies such as The Family Stone, The Girl Next Door and There's Something About Mary.

Working Title is a British film and television company, part-owned by Universal Pictures. They have released many iconic British romantic comedy films such as Love Actually, Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral. This production company would be perfect for me to use as it produces British rom-coms and some (like the three mentioned) are quite farcical.

Warner Bros. is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. They have produced many, many films, including romantic comedies such as Isn't It Romantic, Blended and Crazy Rich Asians.
