• Upbeat music
• High-key lighting 
• Taglines are pink on an off-white background - common colours for rom-coms
• First line is about one of the characters getting engaged
• Excitement from main characters: screaming and flailing arms about (comedy)
• Crisis of not knowing what to do
• Drinking of alcohol in order to deal with stress
• Mention of other rom-coms
• Contrast of expensive house and rich antagonist, with poorer lead with a run down car
• Pauses for comedic effect
• Comedic stereotype - Melissa McCarthy's character's persona is based on her size
• Beautiful and elegant character trying to get in between the two best friends
• Group of friends, all with very different personalities which comedically work well together
• Chaotic scenes
• Slow-mo "formation" of the main characters for comedic purposes - one of them falls over
